Concerts were once the go-to music, entertainment and fashion past time for teenagers of the 80’s and 90’s. While the number of concerts has probably increased due to the growing focus on pop culture, our fashion eyes have turned to festivals. Flower crowns, mesh body suits and relaxed hippy vibes. We understand the fundamentals of perfect festival attire – whether we choose to participate or not. Concerts on the other hand, don’t receive as much fashion attention as before. What ever happened to the patched denim vests, studded belts and converse shoes? Yes, fashion trends get recycled but we aren’t quite back to the punk rock era. Here is my 2017/2018 concert look book to get you inspired!
Denim jacket
A denim jacket is a must have for a relaxed, cool-girl vibe. Pair it over a dressy ensemble like a bodycon dress to bring it down a notch and pair it with a great pair of boots. After a few hours of dancing, tie it around your waist for an added accessory piece. Look for cropped denim jackets for a more flattering look or go oversized for maximum sass.
Leather skirt
When I think of concert attire I think of leather and thank god leather skirts have made their comeback! A perfect little number to add a bit of oomph to your outfit. Pair it with a cropped t-shirt and some cute converses for a youthful and trendy vibe. For something a bit sexier, try long, over the knee boots and a bold lipstick.
Sheer tops
A risky trend but one that can look very chic if done right! If you’re feeling confident wear a sheer black top with a gorgeous bra or bralette and keep the rest of the outfit covered. A great example is to pair your sheer top with jeans and a jacket to create layers and dimension. If you’re not ready to bare it all, try it with a matching camisole to cover up the torso – it still has a great effect!
Over-the-knee boots
Over-the-knee boots are the perfect mix of chic and sex appeal. Perfect for chilly days, these boots will keep you warm and on-trend. The relaxed but elegant style of the boots is made complete with a feminine flash of skin at the thighs. Rock them at a concert by pairing the boots with denim shorts and a t-shirt, a mini dress or an oversized sweater. If you’re choosing comfort, stick to a flat pair which can look equally as chic with denim shorts. To lengthen the leg, pair a heeled pair with a mini dress and dance the night away.
Cropped hoodie
Cropped hoodies are a level up version of your favourite comfort staple. They are comfy, trendy and can even be dressed up based on what you chose to wear at the bottom. If you opt for staple colours like black, grey and white you can pair these with your favourite ripped jeans and sneakers. Take your hoodie a step further by throwing on a pair of heeled boots – perfect for a concert night out! For a trendy dash of colour look for pink or nude shades which are both very trendy this year!
