I am a self-confessed skincare addict. I tried everything from those peeling black-head masks to lemon juice on my freckles. I have been to every Priceline sale to buy the newest creams and cleansers and tried just about every ‘it’ product.
While I’m constantly on the look out for the next big thing, I have some holy grail products that made a huge difference in my skin care routine. See below for some of my favourites!
1. Exfoliate
I begin my weekly beauty cycle with a deep, whole body exfoliation. Usually on a Thursday night, I get into my shower, wash and condition my hair, shave my legs and scrub my body with the amazing Minetan glove. While on a recent trip to Malibu Spray (Canberra’s best tanning salon!! See more below..) the lovely Stacey introduced me to these gloves. I don’t know what they are made of but they exfoliate your skin like no other glove I’ve tried before. Great for removing the old spray tan and prepping your skin for the next round of golden glow!
2. Tan
On most weeks, I usually tan at home using my Ultra Dark Bondi Sands mousse but for those special occasions I like to visit Stacey at Malibu Spray in Evatt, Canberra. Before I went to visit her I’ve heard some raving reviews. Always a big believer in ‘if you want the job done right, you should do it yourself’ I was skeptical, intrigued and also excited. I exfoliated my body as instructed and headed to see Stacey. She was INCREDIBLE! Professional, friendly and best of all, Stacey genuinely wanted me to love how I walked out of the salon. She carefully picked a green based tan for my skin tone (we used Minetan but there’s many more to choose from!), led me to a tanning room and asked that I apply moisturiser to knees and elbows. After taking about 5-10 minutes to carefully spray my body, she blow dried my skin and left the room so I could get dressed. I could not believe how great the tan looked! It was even, a perfect colour for my complexion and stayed on for about 10 days with daily maintenance. I am officially converted and can’t wait for the next excuse to go back and see Stacey at Malibu Spray!
3. Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure that removes the uppermost layer of your skin by using diamond elements and a vacuum. It is super awesome for your skin but not so much for your bank account as salon treatments are pricey! This is where HoMedics Radiance Microdermabrasion devise comes in! It provides a professional and powerful mechanic microdermabrasion that brings out a glowing layer of your skin by stimulating your pores and sucking out the dead skin. The machine comes with two diamond tips – regular and sensitive – a charger, filters and four levels of power. I use this about 2-3 times a week and have seen MASSIVE improvement. My make up stays on longer, my skin is glowing and feels incredibly smooth. I honestly don’t know how I lived without this incredible device for so long!
4. Treatment
I put a lot of effort into looking after the skin on my face. Having used products that have given me allergies and reactions, I’m always super cautious. Last year I began using the Modere I/D Anti-Aging System. Even though at 25 I certainly don’t need anti-aging, I have read SO MANY great reviews about this two-step facial treatment. First step is the Infusion serum. I apply this in circular motion and leave it for about ten minutes. As I wait, I can feel the serum start to bubble on my skin! The bubbles deliver oxygen and botanicals to skin, repairing any damage and infusing it with beneficial minerals. I love this part of the system as it feels the serum is really working and your treated to a mini facial and massage! After the bubbles start to die down, your skin feels soft and tacky. After about 10 minutes, I rinse it off with warm water and apply the Defense creme all over my face. Using this treatment after microdermabrasion, I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in the softness, smoothness and general appearance of my skin! My freckles have started to fade, I hardly get any spots and my make up stays on longer as the surface is smoother. Try it out and let me know what you think!
