Never underestimate the importance of a good skincare routine. Ensuring your skin is well cleansed, nourished and moisturised slows down the process of ageing, keeps your skin healthy and hydrated. Not only does it make you healthy from the inside, a smooth and fresh base makes for great make up! Over the years I have tried and tested many products and fads but I can now confidently say that I’m super happy with my skin care routine. Every one is different so it may not work for you. Read on to see how I look after my combination skin!
Step 1: Makeup removal with Face Halo
Guys!! Stop everything and buy one of these. The Face Halo blows every type of make up wipe and remover out of the water and it’s SO SIMPLE! Simply wet the microfibre mitt with warm water and start wiping. The Halo-Tech fibre strands are 100 times finer than a human hair and reach deep into pores to remove all traces of make up. I seriously was so sceptical at first but I was stunned when I first tried it. The best part of the Face Halo is it saves you money and saves the environment! A pack of three would last you well over a year (1 face halo = approx. 200 washes) which would save you hundreds of dollars on make up wipes. It’s also a much more sustainable way to remove your make up, think of all those thrown out wipes! If you don’t believe me, watch Chloe Morello demonstrate how effective it is! The Face Halo is available on-line.
Step 2: Micellar water
So at first, I was a bit hesitant to try this as many people have slammed the product as an overpriced bottled water. Once Lauren Curtis took to social media to rave about it, I decided to give it a go. I’ve been using the Garnier Micellar Water for about three months now and I can confidently say that it has transformed my skin! The biggest change has been my pimples (or the lack there of!). I never had bad skin but I would definitely have a pimple or two pop up every couple of days. Since using micellar water I have noticed a HUGE change. Pimples were a thing of the past…except for that time of the month where I’d have a minor breakout. My guess is that due to micellar water’s ‘sucking’ power on dirt, it gave my face a deeper nightly cleanse, ensuring I don’t go to bed with clogged pores. Together with the Face Halo, you can be confident that your face is thoroughly cleaned before going to sleep. Goodbye acne!
Step 3: Face wash
Next, comes the face wash. On a day-to-day basis I would use the Garnier Pure Active Energising Scrub as it does a great job of removing what’s left of my makeup and giving my skin a light exfoliation. With multiple scrubs on the market, I find this one to be just right: not too harsh with the beads and gentle on my skin. On other days, when I want a little extra moisture I turn to the Onne Coconut Cleansing face wash. With rose water for reducing redness and chamomile for its potency in fighting inflammation and bacteria, this cleanser is ideal for restoring and protecting the skin. The wash also contains calendula for moisture and white oak bark to soothe inflamed and irritated skin. The wash also feels super soft to touch and smells divine!
Step 4: Tone & Moisturise
So toning is a new thing for me. I hadn’t felt the need to do so before but I recently tried the Enbacci Vitis Vinifera Rejuvenating 3-Step System. I could definitely see a difference in the texture and hydration of my face after even the first use. The essence spray preps my skin for better absorption of the subsequent products and cleans out any left over impurities. I follow this with the rejuvenating crème which moisturises my face and protects it from potential signs of ageing. The Enbacci system is particularly special as these products are made from grape stem cells which are very high in anthocyanin, powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers.
Step 5: Body Scrub
A good skin care routine is not just about your face, it includes your entire body. Weekly, as part of my tanning and exfoliating routine I use a body scrub. I do this to fight cellulite, ensuring my skin is smooth and eliminate dead skin cells. I recently switched to using the Onne Coffee and Coconut scrub which revitalises and antioxidizes the skin and smells amazing! The caffeine in the scrub works to stimulate dilation and hydration in the skin, tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of cellulite. The body scrub works with Sweet Almond Oil and Castor Oil to smooth, cleanse and fight any bacteria clogging the pores. Both of these ingredients work deeply within the skin to hydrate and purify its appearance.
So there you go! Besides my weekly tanning and microdermabrasion that’s pretty much it for my skin care!
