This September, New York Fashion Week demonstrated yet again that designers mean business. Collections range from raw and gothic to minimal and beachy. With an array of fashions, I picked out my favourite looks to keep an eye out for summer 2017/18.
Zimmerman
Nicky Zimmermann went back to her Gold Coast roots for this beach-boho collection. Lots of flowing fabrics, light prints and romantic embellishments. If this collection is a forecast for summer 2017/2018 in Australia – I’m all for it!
Tom Ford
According to various high-profile sources, invitation to this year’s Tom Ford show came with his new perfume – Fucking Fabulous. A perfect introduction to his new collection. Ford looked to his men’s collection for inspiration for the female line – and I’m definitely not mad. Sharp silhouettes, perfectly tailored garments and unorthodox materials. Hello pink velvet suits and broad shoulder blazers.
Michael Kors
Michael is well known to be paying close attention to what females want to wear. This year, he’s been holiday dreaming and inspired by laid-back beachy vibes. These pieces are of course multi-functional and will take you from the beach to the city. From tie-dye to cashmere, Kors took some risks but ensured that we are comfortable in the heat and looking chic. Here in the city this summer are cut-offs, flip-flops, pastel colours and of course some chic black ensembles for the night out.
Brock Collection
This beachy collection had a play with floral prints, breezy dresses, and sexy-sweet ruffles. The Newport Beach designers took it back to the roots and embraced raw yet romantic designs. Minimal yet intricate, the collection demonstrated the designers close attention to lace, embroidery and detail. Cherry tones and flat gladiator sandals accompanied many looks. Easy off-the-shoulder vibes were a signature look for this collection and give off a sensual ‘just slept in’ vibes.
