Summer is well and truely here and I am having fun experimenting with lipsticks. Below, I listed my top eight from different brands, shades and textures. Everything from matte to gloss finishes, electro orange shades to natural nudes.
MAC, Pure Zen
With so many gorgeous colours to choose from – finding your favourite shade at MAC can be a tricky task. I’ve tested out many nude shades from ‘Velvet Teddy’ to ‘Honey Love’ and while they are all great for different occasions and skin tones I keep reaching for a specific one. Pure Zen is a great Cremesheen lipstick that provides colour with a gloss finish. It’s easy to wear, comfortable and looks effortless for an everyday nude.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate, Number 42
My favourite budget lipstick! The Kate collection is super affordable and gives trendy colours with great staying power. I love shade 42, a creamy taupe nude that’s easy to wear and lasts all day. The lipsticks are long lasting but they still feel super creamy and smooth on your lips. They do have a slight talcum powder scent but it’s easy to overlook with all the other great benefits. Available at Priceline.
Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick, Hibiscus
Smoothed Over Lipsticks by Arbonne can be described in three words: luxurious, longwearing, and smoothing. The new formula has the nourishing and hydrating qualities of a lipstick, with the soothing properties of a balm. The satin-glossy formula glides on easily to create a luscious look which will last all day. I love the colour Hibiscus, perfect for spring time! Arbonne is cruelty free, paraben free and vegan.
Mellow Cosmetics, Electro
Mellow Cosmetics have really hit the ground running in Australia and have an incredible range of lip glosses, lip paints and lipsticks in almost EVERY imaginable shade. One of my favourites is their creamy matte lipstick in Electro. This provides a deep, radiant colour that’s also cruelty free, paraben free and vegan!
TMF Vegan Lips
This cruelty free brand creates beautiful kissable lips. Using organically certified and vegan ingredients the TMF Vegan Lips lipsticks create lasting and stunning matte finish. Available in 10 shades and created from skin loving ingredients such as jojoba oil, avocado oil and cocoa butter these lipsticks are a favourite! I love the colour ‘Bianca’, a perfect red for spring.
Modere, Barely
Creamy, soft and natural with a hint of peachy tones. Contains shea butter to help lips stay moist and protected. The Modere ‘Barely’ lipstick is vegan, cruelty free with an incredibly strong pigment.
Charlotte Tilbury – Miranda May
Charlotte Tilbury is the queen of makeup and her products speak volume! The Miranda May matte shade is the perfect coral pink – think gorgeous summer sunsets at the beach. The lipstick also features antioxidants and soothing properties to give you a kissable softness and long-lasting buildable colour.
L’ORÉAL PARIS Infallible 2-Step Longwear Lipstick – Beige to Stay
Finally a perfect mix of moisture, hydration and long-staying colour! I was sceptical to try this but it quickly became one of my favourites. The formula is very unique and you apply the pigment first, followed by the lip balm on the other end. I even put the lipstick to a 10-hour wear test and it PASSED with flying colours! All you need to do is reapply the balm throughout the day to keep the moisture up and you have yourself a winner. Lot’s of colours to chose from so check it out at Priceline.
