Recently while scrolling through my long list of social media accounts, I stumbled upon a delicious recipe for baked Nutella won tons. Instantly, I felt myself begin to drool and my Saturday night was planned: it’s baking time.
On Saturday morning I ventured out to the supermarket and picked up the ingredients: wonton paper, egg, olive oil, powdered sugar and Nutella. I couldn’t believe how easy this recipe was!
Later that evening as I started to prepare my stomach for the sugary treat, I cleared out space on the dining table to start the preparations.
Firstly, I dug out the non-stick oven tray that would fit roughly 30 round won tons, allowing them to breathe. I lined the tray with some baking paper and lightly sprayed it with olive oil and set it aside.
Now the fun begins! To keep things tidy, place some old newspaper on your dining table or your preparation bench. Grab an egg and pour it into a small bowl. Open up your won ton wraps and place them on a stable surface like a chopping board.
Now, dip your finger in the egg and moisten the edges of the won ton to allow it to stick easier. Add a teaspoon of Nutella in the centre of the won ton. Now here is the tricky part, put down the tea spoon and avoid consuming the jar of the Nutella, we need this for the rest of the recipe…
Now back on track, fold the won ton by grabbing a corner and joining it to its counterpart on the opposite side, creating a triangle. Grab the long edges of the triangle and fold them over one another while twisting, creating a subtle knot. Place it on the baking tray and continue onto the next!
Once all the won tons are rolled and on the baking tray, lightly spray them with olive oil and place them in the oven (180 Celsius) for 5-10 minutes or until golden.
Once ready, take them out and sprinkle with powdered sugar. These are great alone or served with ice cream, if you find another great combination or would like to share your experience making these, let me know!
Happy baking!
