Fall 2016 fashion fix

May 10, 2016

Winter is coming. In the Southern Hemisphere at least. The days are certainly getting shorter, the nights colder and most of us are unpacking last year’s cosy wools.

Even though summer is my favourite season, winter fashion takes the top spot. An excuse to wear (faux) furs and knee-high boots? Yes please.

Not only does this trend keep me warm and cosy, it gives me the opportunity to layer my garments and accessorise like never before. Scarves, gloves, hats, coats and knee-highs. Nothing is off limits.

Watching fashion week and runway shows over the last few months sparked some inspiration and curiosity. Tinsel, Spice Girls platforms and extra long sleeves … some trends I decided to leave for the runway. Others intrigued and excited me, so my goal for winter became to try them all. See below for my favourite trends, fall 2016.

Overcoats

My current obsession! Warm, versatile and chic, over coats make the perfect partner in crime this winter. If you’re slightly on the shorter side (like me!), make sure you pair your coat with some gorgeous stilettos to create length.

Winter Whites

Clean, crisp and chic. White, nude and cream pieces are the perfect way to brighten up a gloomy winter’s day. Current favourites include white jeans, polished blazers and cute-as-a-button white beanies. Bonus: they do wonders for any complexion!

90’s Sweats & Hoodies

Now this is a runway look I can relate to. Finally, fashion has turned to comfort and brought us some looks we can take straight from our sofa’s to the streets.
Bonus: It makes those midnight Maccas runs so much more trendy…

Bomber Jackets

Another great look I will attest to. This might sound surprising but bomber jackets are extremely versatile! Throw one over your sports wear on your way to the gym or pair it with some jeans for a casual Supermodel Off-Duty look. Warm, comfortable, trendy… what more could you want?

Knee-high boots

Rock those dresses and keep your legs warm this winter! Knee-high boots can look extremely flattering and elongate your legs, making you look taller. For day time, opt for a cream or brown pair and team them with a casual knit. At night, go all out with a statement boot, don’t be afraid of buckles and ruffles! You can even wear them to the office by pairing them with a classic white blouse. The options are endless!
