New Year’s fashion resolutions

January 17, 2015

With our increasingly busy lifestyles sometimes it’s easy to fall into a fashion rut by always sticking to what we know, rather than taking risks. This year, try for at least one New Year’s fashion resolution and promise yourself to take a risk and try something new. Many great trends are forecasted for 2015 (read about them here) so why not try and master one and have an incredible year of fashion!

New Year’s resolution 1: Wear more hats.

Hat’s may be the only fashion accessory that men know more about than women. With so much focus on our hair, we often forget about this great accessory! Not only can you rock a hat when you’re having a bad hair day, you can also save yourself a lot of time by skipping your morning hair routine and throwing one on! For a casual look, try a leather baseball cap that would look great with matching boots. For something a bit dressier, grab a fedora and pair it with a sundress. In the colder months, match a floppy felt hat with a coat or a trench for a chic winter look.

New Year’s Resolution 2: don’t be afraid to rock an all white outfit.

As nerve-wracking as it may be, nothing looks more fresh, crisp and clean than all white. This season, plenty of celebs are spotted rocking this trend such as Olivia Palermo – so be brave and give it a go. Accessories are essential!

New Year’s Resolution 3: buy less, spend more

Instead of going on shopping sprees, buying a heap of items that you will only end up wearing once or twice, save up and buy classic pieces that will last you a lifetime! This rule works great for accessories like bags, sun glasses and belts due to their longer life span and the ability to turn any ‘cheap’ outfit into a glam ensemble. While saving up for something great, you may be less likely to go out and splurge so this may even end up saving you time and money in the long run!

New Year’s Resolution 5: Rock some statement pieces

Floral pants, fabulous sunglasses or a glam, shoulder padded blazer – invest in some great statement pieces for 2015. This is a great way to bring life into any outfit, but make sure the rest of the pieces your wearing are basic. A statement pant is a great accessory for winter and a perfect way to add a pop to your outfit in the gloomy weather. Attention-grabbing sunglasses are a great way to show off your personality and even contour your face in summer. A cool, statement blazer is perfect for the office and can be extremely versatile and a great step to looking bold and powerful while at work.
